he Solvent Alternatives GuidE, better known as SAGE, has T been a joint development effort between the Research Triangle Institute and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency since the guide’s inception in 1992. The SAGE software tool was first released in 1993 and became an immediate success for the identification and selection of alternative nonand low-polluting surface cleaning options. The first three versions of SAGE were in a DOS-based format. To date, over 10,000 copies have been distributed worldwide.
